Art Update
đ¶ âAfter mid-niiiiiggghhht, we gonna let itâŠâ đ¶
Can you finish these lyrics? Oh Eric Clapton, I can hear you singing my name.
Here I am, a night fox, writing after midnight on yet another weekend. I tend to feel most creative at night, in the quiet, peaceful hours. Crickets chirp, fireflies glow, and I howl at the moon. Yeah, thatâs a wolfâs thing, but itâs my thing too, mâkay? Aaahhhwwwwooooooohhhhhhh!!! đŠđ
Nighttime is great for art and for writing. But itâs not so great for photography. And man oh man, photographing art is challenging, even in the best of lighting.
I took some photos of my new paintings this week during my coffee hours (AKA daytime), but had a hard time capturing them the way I imagined. I have plans for more photos, but alas my photography skills are still in the novice stage. However, as discussed in previous newsletters, Iâm not going to stand in my own way and stop sharing just because I donât feel that I have a finished work. Instead, Iâm going to share with you, and document my artistic journey.
Here are my first ever mountain paintings. You are the first foxes to see them! I used palette knives to paint with acrylic on 16x20 inch canvas. Who knew I would wield knives for work?! đ
first mountains
second mountains
third mountains
fourth mountains
This is only the beginning. Thereâs more foxy content on the way to your inbox soon! Youâll see new paintings in this newsletter next weekend, and more photos of my work and behind the scenes soon to come on my Instagram (@merrifoxdesigns). These first four paintings (and limited edition prints) will be listed for sale in my shop on Monday, August 5th at 8:00am PST.
While weâre talking art talk, I want to let you know that itâs totally cool if youâre not into my artâŠbecause youâre into my writing! Muah ha ha ha ha. Seriously though, art is subjective, and not everyone is into purple mountains and their foxy majesty. đ If you like my art, awesome! Let me know what you think of my paintings, and what youâd like to see more of. Either way, itâs all good. Iâm sharing my new work with you because I want to document the power of perseveranceâŠwhich is the topic of next weekendâs newsletter.
Until then, Iâll let you simmer on this weekendâs quote (see below) and check out my mountains. Look at my mountains? Gaze at my mountains? Is there a way to say âmy mountainsâ and have it sound innocent? Theyâre my mountains - I painted them! Well, thereâs that. Enjoy my mountains, send me an email, follow me on instagram, âŠyou do you, my foxy friends. Have a beautiful week!
Three cheers for my lovely foxes,
